San Francisco to Delhi and Bengaluru flights
Bay Area options to Delhi (DEL) and Bengaluru (BLR), across the Pacific or via the Middle East and Europe.

Airports
Most Bay Area travelers fly from San Francisco International (SFO); San Jose (SJC) and Oakland (OAK) can work with a connection. In India, the main arrival airports are Delhi (DEL) and Bengaluru (BLR).
Direct flights
Air India flies San Francisco–Delhi, and United has also flown this route. In summer 2026 Air India reduced the service and routed it with a stop in Kolkata because of airspace restrictions. Air India's San Francisco–Bengaluru nonstop has been discontinued, so Bengaluru trips currently need a connection. When flown nonstop, SFO–Delhi is around 16 hours.
Schedules are changing often. Since 2025, airspace restrictions and high fuel costs have led some airlines to suspend, reduce or reroute India flights - some "direct" services now make a fuel stop in Europe or India on the way. Always check the exact routing and total travel time before you book; we confirm this with you in every quote.
One-stop options from the West Coast
From San Francisco you can connect across the Pacific through Asian hubs such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei and Tokyo, or through Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi and European hubs. For Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, the Asian and Middle East routings are often the most practical. Total travel time is typically around 20 to 26 hours.
Tips for this route
- Going to Bengaluru, Hyderabad or Chennai? Compare a one-stop via Asia or the Gulf with a direct flight to Delhi plus a domestic connection
- Crossing the date line means you often arrive two calendar days after you leave - check the arrival date carefully
- Check transit rules for any connecting country; we confirm this for your passport
Documents you will need
US passport holders need either an Indian visa (many use the India e-Visa) or an OCI card with their valid US passport. Check your passport validity and blank pages well before you fly.
